Health Check

Vaccination Records

Certificate of current vaccinations are to be verified by e-mail or in person. Yearly updates of vaccinations should be continually provided. Your veterinarian can email this information directly to us. For your kitties protection, they should be up to date with their vaccinations, unless directed by a veterinarian not to do so (due to old age, allergies etc.),and should be vet checked within the last two years to ensure a healthy kitty!

Fleas & Ticks

All cats that go outdoors (even on the deck) or live with a dog should be current with veterinary approved flea and tick treatment. Protection from fleas and ticks is the responsibility of the owner. If fleas or ticks are detected there may be a cost to the owner. Please ensure that your pets are free of fleas and ticks before visiting The Cat’s Meow.

Medications

  • It is always a good idea to supply extra medication.
  • We are able to do most medications

Medical Emergencies

Any kitty requiring veterinary attention during its stay will be taken to their owner’s veterinarian where possible. In other circumstances, our own on-call veterinarian will be contacted. All costs incurred are at the owner’s expense. We suggest you leave instructions and permission with your vet allowing us to bring your kitty to them for care. This would be particularly noteworthy if you are traveling out of the country, if you are unreachable by phone or if your cat is elderly (over 13 years). Please ensure a contact person, yourself or a decision maker is reachable by the vet while you are away. This person should be able to make decisions on your behalf. We would always try our best to contact the owner personally to speak about any medical issues and would never hesitate to seek medical attention if needed in any circumstance.

“Kittens are born with their eyes shut. They open them in about six days, take a look around, and then close them again for the better part of their lives.” – Stephen Baker
